Hi,
I just installed 13.1 Gnome using Livecd. I am able to login to Gnome without problem. I installed Cinnamon using one click install. Installation went fine. When I try to login to Cinnamon it comeback to Login screen. I am new to Opensuse so please advice accordingly.
Maybe that 1-click install didn’t install all necessary packages?
Check in YaST->Software Management and try to install some other Cinnamon packages, select “View”->“Repositories” and click on the Cinnamon repo to get a list of all packages in there.
And the file ~/.xsession-errors should give a clue why exactly it is not starting.
I checked file ~/.xsession-errors for clues. It has error in end
“/usr/bin/cinnamon-session-cinnamon: line 2: exec: cinnamon-session: not found”
Any idea, what it’s pointing towards?
Install the package “cinnamon-session”.
You should find it in YaST->Software Management because the 1-click install should have added the Cinnamon repo to your system.
But it’s likely that you miss other packages as well. So do what I suggested in the previous post.
Thanks wolfi323,
The 1 click install did not install many packages. After installing cinnamon-session and mufin, I am able to login using cinnamon.
