Cinnamon crashes at login

I am trying to run the Cinnamon desktop environment on my openSUSE Tumbleweed system. I have installed it successfully (I think) and it appears in the list of sessions on the login screen. However, when I select it and try to log in, Cinnamon crashes. That’s all the information it gives me, i.e. that Cinnamon crashed.

Is there any way to make Cinnamon work? Has anyone else had this happen?
