Hi! I’ve just finished installing Chromium. I like the appearance and it’s easy to use, but i’ve read on some forums it has some bugs and crashes a lot. Is it true?
My question is, which is better? Which one should i use?
Thank you!!!

what is your experience with Chromium? (i ask because i have read in
some forums that the earth is flat!)

define “better”?

I use Chrome, and I like it. Some people aren’t comfortable with Google
having their personal data (I am, but I’m selective about what I share),
in which case Chromium is the choice because it doesn’t have the Google-y
bits in it.

I’ve been using chromium almost since it came out and there was only one release where I had problems; all the others have worked fine. It is of course where new features are tested - so by the time you get Chrome, they should have been sorted out.
Well, this is a bit harsh
I have read it on the web, that because almost every release is somewhat a beta version, it tends to be very unstable. It actually sounds far more persuasive than the proposition the earth is flat.
The reason i have posted the question here, is because the kind community here presented OpenSUSE to me, and i like it very much, and helped on more occasions. My tech-knowledge (compared to the users here) is inferior (or non existent if you may), so that’s the reason i posted here, otherwise i wouldn’t.
I ask this community, because i trust you guys. If the differences are not visible to the naked eye of an ordinary everyday user, than you can surely say so. (F.ex. - Look ayk87, you don’t do any complicated stuff, so the differences between this browsers have no effect on your computer use, so it’s basically the same s**t what you use.).
But anyways, everybody, thanks for the responses, as always, you’ve all been very helpful.
Thanks & enjoy!
And now for a completely different opinion.
I am using firefox.
Sure, I have looked at chrome/chromium. But it is not available from the regular repos (unless I add the “contrib” repo).
I’m not against using software from other places. But when there is a perfectly good browser in the standard repos, I prefer to go with that.
I agree it was a bit harsh, but you always have the option of ignoring a particular user.
I use chromium, and don’t find it unstable. I primarily use firefox.
Oh, i forgot to mention that i stopped using firefox because i had some graphical issues with it - it was always breaking some of my lines in text. for example - in the address bar, it’s like the middle few dots in the text do not exist, and it just connects top to bottom, + when scrolling, there were always a couple of lines in text corrupted on a particular line. Anyone know how to fix it?
Opera did the same thing, Chromium is the first one that appears OK.
Thank you guys!

sounds like a video driver problem…what graphic do you have and what
driver are you using?

be sure and ask if you run into steep hills…some of it is kinda geeky…
and, if you have questions about the video please begin a new thread
in install-boot-login or applications…and give it a descriptive title
please, then the folks who think they might be helpful will look
in…otherwise nada…
