Chromium for Tumbleweed -- resolve the "tab won't close" issue

I had Chromium from the openSUSE “Contrib” repository. A recent upgrade of Chromium from that repo installed this version: chromium-15.0.854.0-3.1.x86_64

Unforunately that version carries a bug whereby clicking the X on open tabs does not close the tab.

The problem is solved by installing the version of Chromium that is found in the special Tumbleweed repo for Chromium, at this address:

http://download.opensuse.org/repositories/network:/chromium/openSUSE_Tumbleweed

The version there supersedes the buggy version in “Contrib” and fixes the problem.
The newer version is chromium-15.0.859.0-1.1.x86_64

Still, it’s very sloooow compared to build 846.
I hope developers will fix it soon.

They’re working on it. CPU usage in the 859 build is still horribly high. Raymond Wooninck posted in one of the other threads on Chromium. It affects all versions.

Tabs closing is working for me. I updated to the latest version from network:/chromium/openSUSE_Tumbleweed today and I didn’t notice any excessive cpu usage.

Lucky you. I find I have to wait a good 3-4 secs, sometimes 10 or more, after opening, until I can drag the slider on the right hand side down.

AFAICS it’s solved now. @swerdna: are you using the new repo, John? Index of /repositories/network:/chromium/openSUSE_Tumbleweed is where we should look now. This was posted in some other thread.
