Chromium Can't Find Java Plugin

Not sure what has changed, but Chromium no longer finds the Java plugin. It is not listed under about:plugins

I have created the symlink /usr/lib64/browser-plugins/libnpjp2.so -> /usr/java/jdk1.8.0_05/jre/lib/amd64/libnpjp2.so
I have even tried the latest Java 7 instead.

I have also tried the remedy found on https://www.java.com/en/download/help/enable_browser_ubuntu.xml
Placing the Java plugin under /opt/google/chrome/plugins/

As a last resort I have tried using the OpenJDK IcedTead Java plugin. No luck there either.

Chrome no longer has instructions for Java on Linux

I forgot it again:
OpenSUSE 13.1
KDE 4.13.2
Cromium 35.0.1916.114 (270117)

Chrome/Chromium 35 doesn’t support Netscape plugins any more.

If you need the java plugin, either downgrade chromium to V34 (still available in the update repo), or use a different browser.

I thought I read something about that. No longer support for NPAPI.

I was hoping there was a workaround, other than downgrade. Would be great if the Java plugin could support PPAPI.
