Hi,
I am wondering why all my Leap 15.6 installations have the above mentioned issue.
localectl
System Locale: LANG=de_DE.UTF-8
VC Keymap: de-nodeadkeys
X11 Layout: de
X11 Model: microsoftpro
X11 Variant: nodeadkeys
X11 Options: terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
cat /etc/vconsole.conf
KEYMAP=de-nodeadkeys
FONT=eurlatgr.psfu
FONT_MAP=
FONT_UNIMAP=
XKBLAYOUT=de
XKBMODEL=microsoftpro
XKBOPTIONS=terminate:ctrl_alt_bksp
XKBVARIANT=nodeadkeys
After i switched the layout via yast2 to “german” or “german with dead keys”, all chromium based programs use the keyboardlayout.
UNTIL the next reboot. Pretty annoying.
I would highly appreciate to get some hints…
edit: the above mentioned happens on new instalations and upgrades from 15.4
I cannot reproduce it. You may start with telling your desktop environment and whether you are using X11 or Wayland.

Is there a relation with this one?
This is unclear to me. Has the keyboard a US layout or a German layout?
BTW, this is about the layout of the keyboard and has nothing to do with locale or LANG . Those are only influencing output (like language chosen for messages, date formatting, formatting of numbers, etc.).
I am using Gnome with wayland. During installation I chose German Keyboard Layout.
It seems to be the same issue. At least I found a temp solution:
setxkbmap -layout en
Thank you
Did you try to run Chromium with native Wayland backend?
Actually I tried that, but unfortunately it has no effect.
