Hi … for the last few days the updates have not fixed a new chrome failure issue that I’m having … here is the error … I have tried lots of re-installs, reboots and .config/google-chrome -canary & google-chrome-beta removal … help would be appreciated … many thanks

Does the same crash happen with Chrome stable release on your systems? I didn‘t see any crashes so far with Google Chrome stable so far here.

Another quick troubleshooting step is to: create a new user account (that you’ve never used before), log out of your normal user account, log in as the new user, fire up Chrome … still experience the crash?

I used to run TW a long time ago - I’m now on Leap.
I always experienced an issue running Chrome on TW, after doing a “zypper dup”: Chrome would either not start, or website rendering would be corrupted. (and not just me, but many folks using Chrome-based browsers).

The issue was that Chrome’s GPUCache sub-directory would somehow get corrupted (always after a “dup”) … the fix was easy - simply delete the content of GPUCache sub-dir. I ended up creating a script to clear it out. Since moving to Leap, I’ve never had a GPUCache issue for all 3 versions of Chrome and Brave.

Here’s one old post where I describe the issue and how to fix it … not saying the GPUCache issue is your issue, but worth checking out - only takes a couple of minutes to test. Lot’s of folks on TW w/Chrome have experienced this GPUCache issue.

Chrome browser not loading

I am going to take a wild guess. For me, when I used to run TW, it was very common for the “GPUCache” sub-dir tree for “chrome-based” browsers to become corrupted. Just do a search out here for “chrome GPUCache” and you’ll see quite a few posts. Anyway, you have to delete the GPUCache content and it will be recreated when Chrome is restarted. 1. Canary and Beta both crash upon starting.
2. A Command-line start generates error output (see below)
3. The behaviour is the same with X11 as Wayland
   I had already read your post about clearing the GPUPersistentCache sub-directory and had deleted it with no effect.
   The Canary/Beta issues will no doubt be resolved soon. Seems to me to be an incompatibility with libc.so.6. In the meantime there are errors starting Stable as well but is fine.
