i’m a uni student and obviously need a printer. i’m running opensuse 11.0 on kde 3.5.10 and would like a cheap ish (£50-60 range or so) that will work without any hassle on suse 11.0. could anyone please recommend; i’d be very grateful.
cheers.

Hp printers are fairly cheap & work no problem

I am VERY happy with my Samsung ML-2010, a quite small desktop laser printer priced @ 88 € when I bought it last year or so.
It is not manufactured anymore as far as I know, but new models can only have a better performance/price ratio and their name should not be far from the original “ML-2010”, which was a success.
Needless to say, it runs with Linux perfectly, and also with other systems if you ever need to
I also suggest HP printer
so what do we reckon… this look ok?
cheers guys

Remember that a cheap inkjet printer can result in high running cost due to the ink. Those manufacturers make their money on ink and sell the printers almost at cost.
If you can live with black and white copy, consider a laser printer. Brother have been making several Linux compatible models recently.
I would echo ken yap’s comments; we bought a Samsung ML-2010 and it is enlightening to see the better quality of print on the laser; (compared to even a good inkjet printer); this Samsung installed well; we used the splix driver from the openprinting site; and the local electronics shops seem to be having specials on the lower-end lasers at present: we had a sell-out recently on the Brother HL-2040 and swerdna has an excellent howto install HowTo Install a Brother Laser Printer HL-2040 in Suse 10.x + User Notes and it seems the HL-2140 is the replacement;
