Cheap PCI Express sound card which works under Linux?

Hi,

I’m searching a cheap PCI Express sound card which works under Linux (openSUSE 11.1 or, even better openSUSE 11.0).

I need it for my MythTV PC, because the SPDIF port on the mainboard don’t work anymore and there is only a PCIe slot free on the mainboard.

I found only one card for PCIe which is not too expensive.

It’s the Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Extreme Audio. This card is not a real xifi model. But unfortunately my research on the web, shows that there is no working driver for it at the moment. Or do someone knows this better? The PCI model of the SoundBlaster xifi xtreme audio seems to work under Linux, but not the PCIe model. It seems the PCIe model have a CA0110 chipset instead the CA0106 on the PCI version.

I only found this two other PCIe sound cards:

  • Asus Xonar. It seems ALSA driver available, but card is relative expensive and needs extra current from power supply over a separate connector. I really think a sound card shouldn’t need this.

  • Creative X-Fi Titanium. Also relative expansive and it seems the the Linux driver is in an early state.

Someone have a suggestion for a working PCIe sound card (SPDIF must work) under Linux?
