So I am looking for a chat client where you can add Facebook and google talk account’s to it. I see Kopete is install on my KDE version but it doesn’t have the google talk that I seen and I think but could be wrong but empathy is only for gnome. I just installed the KDE version of openSuse and I like it more then gnome but still figuring out what application there are and my preferences. I just installed Banshee due to my preference to Amarok. Thanks for all the help guys.
I don’t see why you could not use empathy with KDE. Otherwise, pidgin supports a bunch of clients and protocols (including Facebook and Google Talk) and does not depend on Kde or Gnome.
i thought kopete did support talk.google.com through a Jabber type connection… and Facebook protocol also, but i could be mistaken… you might check by opening kopete’s Settings>Configure>AddAccount dialog and verifying that those are not available.
i use pidgin often under KDE and if you decide to go that route, be aware that there are many rpms for pidgin in the BuildService intended to be used under Gnome and if you install these under KDE you will also get some unneeded dependencies. Fortunately there are some that don’t, presently i am using polyconvex’s version that can be found here:

this prevents you from automatically getting the gnome password manager, etc…

So I installed pidgin the first time and it would not connect to google, but I un-installed and then re-installed and it works. Probably user error. Thanks for the help guys.
FWIW, but Kopete does support Google Talk and, apparently, Facebook chat too (I don’t use either, I have first hand experience with the former, know nothing about the latter). Here’s some instructions:

I will be installing chat client too, probably Empathy or Pidgin (I use gnome mixed with xfce).
I’ve noticed everybody migrating from Pidgin to Empathy, but seriously I can’t see why.
Empathy seems inferior in every aspect - interface, features, memory usage, stability (proxy problems).
Empathy even uses Pidgin library to connect to some protocols.
So… why Empathy? Maybe there is something I don’t know about?
Yesterday I’ve been trying to setup Pidgin.
While it works perfectly, it lacks in one aspect.
There is no easy way to run it minimized during boot.
assuming you have implemented some method to start pidgin automatically when you start a session in KDE4, you can get kwin to enforce window rules.
start pidgin and when you get the application window, right click the titlebar and choose Advanced>SpecialWindowSettings.
in the next tabbed settings box you will need to choose the Geometry tab, then hit the checkbox for the Minimize preference, that enables the dropdown menu on the right to choose the Minimize preference which i would think you might prefer “Apply Initially”. This also makes an entry in the systemsettings module WindowBehavior in case you want to alter/review it there.
