Changing video cards (AMD)

I’m currently running 13.1 using the fglrx driver driving an XFX card with a Radeon 7950 chip. All is well.

I recently purchased a Sapphire R9 290x 8G vapor cooled card. I’m wondering if changing to this card will be as simple as just swapping out the cards themselves as the driver should be the same (I’m hoping). Anyone have any experience with this type of change?

Should be ok but you should always check with AMD about what driver to use with what card.
