Although I personally don’t use Gnome Terminal,
All the terminals I’ve used in openSUSE (about 6 so far) have a way to modify the display properties, which generally include the window/terminal background, the font, font size, number of characters in a line, etc.
If you click in the top left corner of the terminal window (the usual place to access the window properties), is there a dropdown that displays some way to modify the appearance?

I did not assume to find it under “Edit Current Profile”, that is the place! For newbies, like me, the vids from Ed Walsh about the shell are very instructive.
