changing keyboard from querty to azerty

Hi guys,

Finaly installed my openSUSE system.

How do I change the keyboard setting?

Is it in the file xorg.conf? Where is it located?

regards,
Jo

You should be able to select the desired keyboard mapping with yast. For the console screen the mappings are located at /usr/share/kbd/keymaps. For X11 ? – I have not the slightest idea.

Have a look in the Control Center (you don’t indicate which desktop
you’re using, so it may be called something else if you’re a KDE user) -
in GNOME, you can select the keyboard layout there.

Yes its there in the directory. How do I install it? Its a .map and looks like a config file.

I use the KDE desktop.

Then go to System settings>Regional and language>Keyboard layout and select French.

If you want only one keyboard layout, delete all the others. Otherwise, add it to your list. A flag will appear in the system tray indicating which is the current layout.

Clicking on the flag cycles through the keyboard layouts you have installed (under KDE4 a maximum of four is recommended).

Don’t change anything else or you will confuse the KDE program!
