One of my machines uses SIS 761 Mirage onboard graphics. Unfortunately, like most distros, Suse 11 can’t cope properly, producing vertical artifacts at about 1" intervals.
To accomodate this, I installed another graphics card which resolved that problem but created another - although disabled in bios, the SIS chip continued to generate heat, with the result that the whole system overheated and collapsed!
So I removed it but Suse can’t cope with the change (but Mint could).
Is there any way of getting Suse 11 to adapt to this change without re-installing?
Furthermore, is it possible to utilise the definitions from another distro (Mandriva or PCLinuxOS) where SIS is handled correctly?
