I have 11.3 32 bit running on a machine capable of 64 bit function.
With 11.4 coming up, I would like to install the 64 bit version but keep my settings, documents, installed programmes etc.
Is there a way to do this?
You need to do a fresh install but you can keep /home. Make a backup just in case, it goes without saying.
Thanks - just /home?

You can upgrade. The procedure works fine, but it is not supported and has
some quircks. I wrote my notes about this in the “howto submissions”
subforum, read it.
You can also install fresh, if you have a separate /home partition.
However, this procedure will not keep programs nor system global
configurations or data.

Well if you have mysql data, website or third party programs in /opt for example, you would have to make arrangements for those.
