Changing default applications on Gnome?

I would like to use Foxit as default application for opening pdf and VLC for media, how do I do about so? I kinda know how to do on KDE, but on GNOME idk where to look  . I know you I can right click the file and open it with my preferred app, but anyway to make to open by default with my preferred app? Nothing wrong with Evince, but I like Foxit more.

You don’t say what version of openSUSE/Gnome you’re using, but there should be a “Set as default” button in “Open with” tab. You’ll see this in the lower right corner.

Really sorry, my mistake. openSUSE 12.1 but I figured it out, thanks. I saw that “Open with” tab when I right-clicked the file, went to Properties.
