I am trying different distros out to make the move from Windows to Linux. I’ve used Gnome before, but with openSuse I wanted to try KDE. If I don’t like it, how hard is it to change from KDE to Gnome or does it require a re-install of the distro?
With the install dvd you can install either gnome, kde 3.5, kde 4 or all 3 if you like and use all 3. And after install you can also install xfce. I have all 4 on my box and can choose what kind of session to run at the login screen.
One can
1.go to yast Software Management in the filter select Patterns
2.look for Gnome Desktop & Gnome Base System
3.check both click accept
If all goes well you’ll have a Gnome setup.
If you should go to yast & not find a Gnome Desktop & Gnome Base System then go here: Package Repositories - openSUSE
Place the Gnome Commumity & Gnome Stable into your Software Rpeositories in yast
Thanks for the responses, actually I’d already installed with KDE4 before my post and further use has convinced me that I like Gnome better so I used Yast to install it. Now to get dual boot with Grub working…
