hello all… i just wanna find out how to get rid of the annoying bootlist at startup in opensuse 11.1 and always show the screen with the loading barrotfl!
Maybe try putting ‘splash=silent’ in the kernel arguments in menu.lst?
The timeout (I think it’s in boot/grub/menu.lst, can’t remember) is the amount of time the boot menu is displayed before booting.
To remove the boot options at startup change the timeout to 0; to just make it go quicker, whilst still giving you the option, simply reduce it to a small number.
Regards,
Barry.

You can change the number to 0; however, if you ever need to load the
failsafe version because one of your drivers got corrupted, you will
be screwed!
I have my timeout set to 3, at install it was quite high; about 8, I think.
If you needed to do that, couldn’t you use a live CD to change the timeout back or to just fix the problem or am I missing something?
