Change DNS Information on Static IP

Hello,

I installed Suse 11.0 in a computer of my company for tests, but i have problems to configure the network.

My network don’t have DHCP server. Then, we using static ip.

When i configure the network card by Yast->Network Settings, i can’t change the dns information. I put it in dns fields on Hostname/DNS tab, but when i save the resolv.conf continue the same. I edited the resolv.conf file and the internet is ok. But when i restarted the network, resolv.conf is empty.

On Hostname/DNS tab, the box “update DNS via DHCP” is readonly.

Can anyone help me?

Regards
Fernando

Are you using ifup method to set the IP? You should be able to set the nameservers in that configuration.

no, i’m using NetworkManager. why? Doesn’t NetworkManager work to configure static ip?

Never tried NM with static IP, but I know ifup will work with static IP. And if the IP address is static, well you can assign it right away at boot time, no?
