Hi, i’ve recently installed OpenSuse on my iMac (2011 version). OpenSuse is running great, but i can’t make the Mac fans work properly:at the beginning i installed “smcfancontrol” and got it working…but the fans reached the maximum speed from a very low speed too fast (this happened to me even when I was using ubuntu, i think it’s a compliation “error”) so i’ve installed “macfanctld” (opensuse version) and the fans work… but i can only manage the speed of the first 2 fans, and not the third (the one i am more interested about, the cpu’s one)… infact i could only edit the minimum speed of the first and the second ones editing the “macfanctld.conf” file.
Can anyone tell me how can i get the CPU’s fan work as the two other fans, using macfanctld (suse version)?
Thank you, and sorry my bad english.
I don’t have such a setup, but often, the CPU Fan speed is based on the heat the CPU creates. Can you control this in your native software? On my system, I can reduce the CPU speed, which reduces the CPU fan speed after a while, but of course, this is a clone PC and not an iMac. But, I wonder what automatically controls its speed on your IMac?
Thank You,
