Dear All,
I have Installed Opensuse11.3 on my pc successfully , I had already installed windows 7 on the same machine, now my machine is dual bootable, now i want to install CentOS 5.5 on my machine,So,Will the GRUB of CentOS 5.5 detect Opensuse11.3 and windows 7 on my machine? I also read on internet that GRUB of Open suse11.3 doesn’t detect CentOS 5.5,so if at all I install CentOS 5.5 Which OS should I boot from? VMware is the last option for me since shares the RAM & slows the overall performance of the PC. Kindly revert me you if you have solution for this.
Thanking You.
Best Regards,

11.3 is old version do you mean 12.3??
It all depends on what OS you want to control the boot. AFAIK any grub2 should detect 12.3
yes i know 11.3 is old version,I have installed 11.3 only,now i want to install CentOS 5.5…
Ok thought it was a typo
don’t know what version of grub centOS 5.5 uses But 11.3 probably used grub 1
If you let openSUSE control the boot you can edit the /boot/grub/menu.lst to add the boot chain to centOS
TO let openSUSE control just don’t install the centOS grub in the MBR just to the partition that holds /boot for that OS
If centOS also uses the legacy grub the idea is the same just edit menu.lst and add a chain to opeSUSE
Thanks gogalthrop…
that was really helpful…
Thanks man…
