Cecilia/Csound 2.0.5 problems

I downloaded it from packman and it’s not working. I tried loading some old projects from when I was working Cecilia in Xandros, but they don’t load. I tried loading .wav and .aiff files, but they don’t load. Unfortunately, this app is useless, but it worked perfectly in Xandros (which is useless).

Is there a particular repository I should be tapping instead of packman for Cecilia/Csound? Maybe this app is just plain outdated. Your suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Cecilia, version 2.0.5, seems to work alright on my computer. I am running OpenSuSE 11.2 64bit.

My packages of Csound/Cecilia (++), though, are from: Index of /repositories/multimedia:/apps/openSUSE_11.2 and probably
Index of /repositories/multimedia:/libs/openSUSE_11.2

I’m running 11.3, so I tried Index of /repositories/multimedia:/apps/openSUSE_11.3. Removed packman csound, installed OSS csound, but get the same result. I’m not sure what’s wrong. What kind of sound files are you loading?

Thanks in advance.

I’m sorry, I also seem unable to load files into Cecilia. Should have tried that before I replied. Not much hits to look at from googling either.

Looking at the CSound site though I see that CSound5 support is on its way for Cecilia. I also note that the current linux version is 2.0.5 while mac/windows version is 2.5.
Perhaps Cecilia is outdated for linux? You could maybe try Blue instead?

Thanks for double checking on that Csound. Which blue from what repository? I can only see blue tooth apps. Thanks in advance.

I don’t know if there is a distro packed version of Blue available any more (I think it was packed by packman earlier). So you may have to compile it yourself: Downloads | cSounds.com

I also read about another front-end (AVSynthesis) for csound here: LinuxMusicians • View topic - Csound

PS
You could ask someone here or at packman to build Blue or AVSynthesis for you, it’s worth a try if you’re not comfortable with compiling.
