cdrecord has no permission

While trying to use K3B I keep getting an error at the beginning of the write process.
I have 11.3 X86-64 installed

I have 2 writers installed on my machine k3b identifies the 2 in Device medium info but will not let me select one over the other when setting burn process.
Then comes the error;
“cdrecord has no permission to open the device”.

If I insert a disc into either or both burners they both show up in “last plugged device”

I really could use some help with this, I have used these writers to burn both video and audio discs before but now all i get is this error…

Try switching it to Packman

and if that doesn’t work, why not

  1. log a bug, see http://en.opensuse.org/Submitting_Bug_Reports, and

  2. unplug one of the burners and see if that solves the problem, or

  3. if both burners on the same data cable and therefore to the same
motherboard attachment point, is one of them set to master and the
    other slave? or,

  4. try putting only one burner on each motherboard attach point…

now, please do not come back and say that both writers are USB, or one
is USB and the other is not…because all of that has a bearing on
this case and you should have included all relevant info in your
initial post…by the way, is this a laptop or a rack mounted eight
core server

I have the packman version installed… I have successfully burnt many discs in the past, this has just started happening.
I will submit a bug…

I retried the options in your post with no joy… I posted a bug which was closed straight away as I am using the packman version of k3b.
Next step; i again tried the your options with no luck. I then on the off chance tried a different make of cd and all is good. It seems the kodak brand cds are not compatible with k3b.

Are there any differences in the Kodak and new brand
Eg: CD-R or CD+R are they both 52x

Some CDs / DVDs have trouble working properly with certain burning devices. You should test different brands and avoid the ones who fail to cooperate. However, this has nothing to do with K3B or its backends.
