Here is notes on my attempt to get connected to internet using MTNL Mumbai’s CDMA 1X 2000 FWT(fixed wireless terminal – pantech make HTP-801).
{1} below is the call script put in directory /etc/ppp/peers named as mtnl_fwt
/dev/ttyACM0
crtscts 460800
connect “/usr/sbin/chat -v -f /etc/chatscripts/mtnl_fwt_chat_script”
user mtnl
password mtnl1234
noipdefault
defaultroute
replacedefaultroute
debug
{2} below is the chat script put in /etc/chatscripts directory names as mtnl_fwt_chat_script
ABORT BUSY
ABORT ‘NO CARRIER’
SAY " Dialling your ISP…
"
‘’
ATZ OK
ATQ0 OK
ATDT#777 ‘’
CONNECT ‘’
{3} using the above two scripts i could connect to the ISP’s server, got CHAP cleared, got IP address allocated, remained connected for several minutes, but could not browse so far (09-10-2007).
the command given at prombt is as below
pppd call mtnl_fwt
the response of the above command is as below
linux:~ # pppd call mtnl_fwt

FURTHER ON NEXT 50 OR SO ATTEMPS I COULDNOT CONNECT TO MTNL. I FURHTER NEED TO PING GOOGLE (216.239.37.104). I AM UNABLE TO BROWSE. I NEED TO TRY OUT POP3 CONNECTIVITY ALSO. I ALSO NEED TO KNOW THE OUTPUT OF THE COMMANDS ‘route’ AND ‘dhcpcd-test’ AND ‘netstat -pantul’.
I ALSO BELIEVE THAT IP6 CAN BE A PROBLEM.
{4} BELOW IS THE RESPONSE OF UNSUCCESSFUL ATTEMP

I am able to connect to internet.
There were two errors. First, it was very old or rather wrong DNS. Seconldy, Konqueror has some difficulty in handling default gateway under a sub-net it seems.
For browsing I am simply using Mozilla. Yet to try on POP3.
