CD Ethern. Conn. Works well, once installed on disk, no

Yes, It’s TRUE!

I’ve the same F****ng problem as the wireless device(not tested on lcd)

I seem to be danmed, the ethernet card works in the Live CD, but once i install(it is the second time i try) it does not load any pages/updates…

What I’m doing wrong?!?

Hmmmmm… Is your ethernet card recognized by YAST (under Hardware/Hardware Information)? Have you tried YAST/Network Devices/Network Settings? What does it say? What output do you get from the ifconfig and ifup commands?

I’ll try to make it a little bit more clearer…

I’m actally frustated to the dependency to Internet it has, i can configure the ethernet card(eth0) withouth connecting to the internet, that’s crazy! How the … I’m gonna to connect to the internet if THE DEVICE HAS NOT BEEN CONFIGURED!!!

Also, if someone lost something in the frist message:

I can actually browse the net easly with the LiveCD booted…

But, the device does not work once installed…

(yeah!, i’m gonna be hated by everyone near here, but at least i want a more or less functionall distro (withouth picking a <<Pro>>[Well, actally you must be one to exit from this internet hardware hell] to configure the hardware))

The device is a … Zyxel …? Provided from my ISP

Ups, i didn’t saw your message…

Yast recognizes the card, but as a generic one, and it prevides me 2 modules that does not work…
the ifconfig and ifup commands i dont know… i’ll boot up that old lady

Any way to make screenshots?

Edit: That commnands does not exist on my PC (Not found)

What package should I have?

Hmmm…

While taking screenshots of the hardware detection… it seems that a kernel module is not loaded… strangely, the device eth0, now it is accompanied with RTL-8139/8139C/8139+

Altougth, the old <<SHARED?>> eth0 card is also present…

but WTF? I cannot shot the ‘‘other’’ device…

This thing has a file upload menu?

EDIT: OH GOD! WHY NOBODY WANTS TO UPLOAD THE IMAGES?

RE-EDIT: Here’s a ZIP… (why me…) Free File Hosting Made Simple - MediaFire

It’s frustrating, I know, but… try to keep it cool nevertheless, OK?
AFAIK, the screenshots of your hw info seem perfectly OK. I think it’s perfectly normal for your card to be recognized as a “generic one”. About ifconfig and ifup - that was my bad: I forgot to mention that you must run them as root. Type su (and then your root password) and then:
ifup eth0
ifconfig
Let’s see what those two commands tell us, shall we?

By the way: about setting your network card in SuSE see this quick guide: HowTo Configure a network card in Suse/openSUSE 10, 11 for LAN and Internet Access.

Let’s see…

ifconfig

Link encap:Local Loopback
inet addr:127.0.0.1 mask 255.0.0.0
inet6addr: ::1/128 Scope:Host
UP LOOPBACK RUNNING MTU:16436
RX packets:32 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0 frame:0
TX packets:32 errors:0 dropped:0 overruns:0( carrier:0 collisions:0 txqueuelen:0
RX bytes:2056 (2.0 kb) TX bytes:2056 (2.0 kb)

IFUP eth0
eth0 is not avbiable

ALSO, The Card i installed i’m sure is the one labeled RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+

lspci says it is a Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C /8139C+ (rev 10), and that <<zyxel>> board has things labeled with the RealTek Logo… (i hope this helps, maybe it is not supported by the driver)

There’s apparently nothing wrong with your card, you just have to configure the connection as such. Try the link I gave you above and follow the instructions. I can’t be of great help because I’ve never configured an ethernet connection in my life: I only have wireless at home:P
But maybe somebody else will chime in…

I’m configuring the ehternet on my old comp to “download” the required files it “tries” when you <<finish>> configuring the USB Device

You could PM me and you could help me by IM when i configure the USB device
