CD/DVD Media not Automouting I have had this problem since installing 10.3 and now 11.0. It was fine with 10.2. My drives 2 DVD-RW will stop auto-mounting media. I have posted this in previous forums and never really been able to nail it down. I was hoping that someone might have stumbled on an answer now.
So here is what the system logs say.

Some things that have tried in the past.
First question usually is, are you sure the drive is good? The answer is yes, they are 2 different drives from two different manufactures, one is only 6 months old and works perfectly fine from other OS’s.
In the past (10.3) I could enable irqpoll and suffer a performance decrease for stability; however, after the installation of 11.0 this makes the machine freeze. I mean freeze in the true sense. Keyboard, screen, mouse, magic key combinations to drop X and get to a different run level. Nothing works when it freezes.
Next question is usually does your Motherboard have the latest BIOS Update. Yes updated yesterday.
I have also tried enabling/disabling SMART.
Many have asked if I have updated the firmware of my drives. All I can find are windows drivers for these drives.
Information on the hardware/OS is
Motherboard: ASUS M2V-MX AM2
Drives Master: IDE1-ASUS 1608-P3S
IDE2 DH-20A4P-04
Power Supply: Thermaltake Spirit (plenty of power and more)
Hard Drive: 160 WD SATA 3
Processor: AMD Athlon 64X2 4200+
Video Card: Nvidia 8600 GT (nvidia driver)
OS: OpenSUSE 11.0 64 bit
Don’t know what else would be useful/interesting. I have tried putting both of the drives on the same IDE channel with no change in failure rate. Also tried booting in Failsafe and that does not change the behavior either.
As you can see, I have tried about everything I can think of and many suggestions that I did not think of but received from others. Any help is greatly appreciated.
Other than this little glitch I must say that on my other computers OS11 works wonderfully.
