In any case there is nothing about a CD in the fstab. Same for the usb zip drive.
Can you tell what sort of CD. There are CDs having a file system on them (iso 9660), but also music CDs which have no file system.
What is also missing is any reference to a DE (like KDE, Gnome or none) you are using. I e.g. use KDE and entering a CD in thy device does give a reaction in my “connected devices” icon in the panel.
Sorry! This was a freash install of 11.2. I installed all the desktops but use KDE 4.35 exclusivly. I up dated it from the original KDE to KDE 4.3.5.
I have installed crossover pro. I want to add office 2K3. Normaly I would put the office 2K3 cd into the cd/dvd drive and copy the cotents to the hard drive so I get a good clean install. In the past when I installed the cd into the drive it would pop up a window and give me some options. However, he just does not see the disk.
I went to the services and turned on the auto mont service and another mounting service that was off. I then re-booted and still no worky.
This is the first time I have expirenced this kind of behavor with opensuse. Normally everthing just works.
I am running a DELL LATITUDE E6500 laptop. Everything els works perfectly from my network and mobile wireless network devices.
So I am at a loss as to what the problem might be.
Thank you so much for your response. Maybe you now have enough info to come up with a plan of attack to remeidy my problem.
