CD collection applications not mounting cdrom

I am trying to create a database of my audio cd collection. I have installed CdFly, Qcd, and DataCrow. Every time I try to add a cd, I get an error that the media is not mounted, would I like (insert any of the 3 apps here) to mount it. I select yes, and get this message ‘Failed to mount device, verify that the specified device node name is correct’. I have the device setting set to /dev/cdrom.
I can play them in various media players, such as amarok, vlc…but none of the cd collection apps will mount a cd. I have even tried adding an entry to fstab but to no avail… I am at a loss here.

Have you done this:

YAST >> Security and Users >> User Management >> “select your user” >> Edit >> Details >> Groups >> check “cdrom” and “disk” and then click on “ACCEPT”.

Yes. I had already added my user acct to cdrom, disk and audio groups. no change. I can play cd’s, burn them in k3b, browse them in file managers, but the cd catalog apps just wont mount them.
