I have a functioning system. And, despite the frustration of not knowing HOW to do what I NEED to do - I’m moving forward.
Current issue:
Repositorries/11.1
Has instructions to "Just head over to YaST->Software->Software Repositories. Then in the menu: … hit the Add->Community Repositories and select…
Main (OSS)
Main (Non-OSS)
Packman
Main Update Repository
…from there. Easy :-)"
EXCEPT when I do that I get an error message
“Unable to download list of repositories or no repositories defined.”
Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks for your time.

If you are in the system now, open a terminal and do this
zypper lr -d
post result

Now please open a terminal and become su and do
zypper mr -d 1
this will disable the dvd, which you don’t need if you have high speed internet
Now do this:
zypper ref
then
zypper up
This will run updates
I really appreciate the real time assistance!
I have followed those instructions.
I’m assuming that I can not proceed to the add repository packman?
Just tried that - dvd is still showing - so I’m going to re-boot.
Uh-oh.
Error message is still the same.

That message has been occurring for a few days now. I think it’s associated with the power outage. Should be gone tomorrow and working OK. Is that right Carl?

Tell you what use software management - repositories

I am unable to get the community repository list as well.
When I run updates there are no available updates. Fresh install. I chose to not update during the install to make sure. Disabled firewall and changed DNS (I run openDNS) for good measure and still nothing.
Getting the following error message.
“Unable to download list of repositories
or no repositories defined.”

Please open a terminal window and post output of ‘zypper lr’
That will make us see which repos have been defined, if any, and what their status is.

Might have to wait for the repos to come back on line.
When this link works, probably too will Yast Software: http://software.opensuse.org/ (maybe?)

I have been running 11.1 for a while now on my laptop. Didn’t have an issue until the power outage. Tried to add repos on it and got the same message. Maybe DNS issue?
