I just installed opensuse 11.4. I tried to configure the dsl connection, using the DSL in the control center. It then tried to download a program. This naturally failed, since there is no internet connection. How do I get my connection up without being forced to use the internet?

If you downloaded and installed openSUSE using the DVD (which contains the most software) you could go into YaST / Software / Repositories and disable all entries except the local DVD entry. If the file you want is on that DVD, it can be installed locally. Otherwise, you must use some other wired connection to make it download and install this file properly. You could attempt to determine what files are being downloaded and use RPM find to locate and download the RPM files in Windows and then install them while using Linux. This is a catch 22 as many wireless users also have the very same problem. But, there are so many ways to connect and many hardware types to work with that having them all on one disk is not possible.

Thank You,
