Catalyst and Xorg

I have a question regarding the 2 mentioned items.

Would any version of the Catalyst drivers, work with the files in the repository:

Index of /repositories/X11:/XOrg/openSUSE_11.3

Could i update using that repository and keep using Catalyst?

Thanks

Update? I don’t think so, as the driver in the repo isn’t usually up to date.
If you want/need to install/reinstall the latest ATI driver you can follow this method and use this script: Upgrading ATI driver with atiupgrade . There are other methods which work as well.
If you don’t have the latest ATI card and don’t need the latest driver, installing from the repo should be fine.

nono, i meant, can i update all of the Xorg related files using that repository and keep using catalyst?

Does catalyst support xorg 7.6 1.9.2 ?

I always install the latest catalyst driver the hard way.

Oh, ok. I would assume it does. … but don’t know 100%, as I don’t have that Xorg version. You could make sure that the following files - belonging to the fglrx package - don’t get overwritten: *

/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/amdxmm.so
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/glesx.so
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/linux/libfglrxdrm.so
/usr/lib64/xorg/modules/updates/extensions/libglx.so

or reinstall Catalyst afterwards in the worst case.
