Can't sync iPod

Not very long ago, I was able to use banshee to copy all of my music to my ipod. A little later, my wife plugged it into her Mac to try and add some stuff manually…fail! iTunes did some funny business with the ipod’s software, and now I can’t change anything on it from openSUSE. I’ve tried Amarok, banshee, clementine, and gtkpod and nothing will sync. Does anybody know how to get around this? It seems iTunes updated the software on the device such that now everything besides iTunes sees it as a read-only device. It’s mysterious to me. I don’t know how it works. So what can I do?

It still mounts and banshee still brings it up as if it can sync, but when I press sync, nothing happens. Same in Amarok. I try copying songs to it, and get nothing.

Hi
I would check on IRC channel #gtkpod and see what the devs say.

IRC channel #gtkpod

I went there, and could see nothing. Do I have to have an account set up with that website to see posts?

Also, is there any software I can download that actually overwrites the Apple software on the ipod to make it usable as just a normal mp3 player (reformatting the device)?

Thanks.

Hi
You need to open up an IRC client eg xchat, login to a server eg
freenode and then join the channel.

/join #gtkpod

No account required to join an irc channel. Then just ask your question.

Don’t think so, maybe a restore feature on the ipod?
