Is this an “Amazon hates linux” problem? My connection is 50 mbps (and when I test it - on 4 different speed test sites - it’s actually testing at 65-73 mbps consistently), yet Amazon claims my speed is only 1.3 mbps and thus gives me 480p. As well, taking youtube’s speed test (and showing the speed at which it downloads video) shows it downloads at an average of 52 mbps! So why does Amazon claim I can’t get better than 480p? Is anyone else getting this same issue?
are you able to play 720p and above in youtube ?
Yes. I can play 1080p in youtube and youtube shows my speed at which I download the videos as 50mbps. (And I have a 1080p HD monitor)
You should probably report this issue with them
Also this page asks you to check sped using Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test

There are a few things that you can try.
-
Make sure your graphics drivers are installed. (Check out the openSUSE wiki)
-
Ensure that you have the flash-player package. It works much better than gnash.
-
Try updating Firefox, or try another browser. (Chromium, Opera, etc.)
-
Check your internet connection for strength/speed.
6tr6tr,
I doubt it’s a Amazon hates Linux thing.
