Can't start virtualbox

First I tried to start, it failed and said the same thing I had in 11.4:

Kernel driver not installed (rc=-1908)

The VirtualBox Linux kernel driver (vboxdrv) is either not loaded or there is a permission problem with /dev/vboxdrv. Please reinstall the kernel module by executing

‘/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup’

as root. If it is available in your distribution, you should install the DKMS package first. This package keeps track of Linux kernel changes and recompiles the vboxdrv kernel module if necessary.

But in 11.4 executing ‘/etc/init.d/vboxdrv setup’ worked. In 12.1rc2 it doesn’t, I got an error telling me that there was no KERN_DIR specified in the /var/log/vbox-install.log

I googled around and installed

Installing: kernel-devel-3.1.0-1.2.1 [done]
Installing: kernel-desktop-devel-3.1.0-1.2.1 [done]

However it’s still not working, now the log says this and I don’t know what to do next:

Makefile:175: Warning: using /usr/src/linux as the source directory of your Linux kernel. If this is not correct, specify KERN_DIR=<directory> and run Make again.
make KBUILD_VERBOSE=1 SUBDIRS=/tmp/vbox.0 SRCROOT=/tmp/vbox.0 -C /usr/src/linux modules
test -e include/generated/autoconf.h -a -e include/config/auto.conf || (

echo " ERROR: Kernel configuration is invalid.";
echo " include/generated/autoconf.h or include/config/auto.conf are missing.";
echo " Run ‘make oldconfig && make prepare’ on kernel src to fix it.";
echo;
/bin/false)

Try:

cd /usr/src/linux
make cloneconfig
make scripts
make prepare

Error at ‘make scripts’ step:

make[2]: *** [scripts/selinux/genheaders] Error 2

I still tried ‘make prepare’ as well:

linux-5nmx:/usr/src/linux # make prepare
CHK include/linux/version.h
UPD include/linux/version.h
CHK include/generated/utsrelease.h
UPD include/generated/utsrelease.h
make[1]: *** No rule to make target kernel/bounds.c', needed by kernel/bounds.s’. Stop.
make: *** [prepare0] Error 2

Perhaps Bugzilla.

Read the new suse readme for that kernel, perhaps the targets have changed.
I’m not sure if you need some extra package.

I just did a zypper dup and it works now…I had erranously assumed to have the latest rc2 version because I just installed an hour ago.
