can't start apparmor

so i installed apparmor, but when i try to enable the boot.apparmor service i get an error about the service boot.cleanup not being found and then not being configured, but there is no boot.cleanup service in the yast services runlevel list and no such executable file. i installed all the apparmor packages listed in the official opensuse guide except “audit” as its description was that it’s meant for the 2.6 kernel. in the control center apparmor applet i checked the "enable apparmor " box, but the service is not running, even after reboot. i run opensuse 12.3 KDE

Yast services level module is broken and will not be repaired soon, so
forget it for the entire 12.3.

Just install the entire AA pattern in Yast, then start the yast module
“apparmour configuration”, “settings”, tick “enable” on top left.

And yes, of course you need the “audit” pattern.

i thought apparmor was part of a default install…did that change or
did you initially elect to not install it?

I have both openSUSE 12.2 and 12.3 installed from the DVD. Neither has apparmor installed although 12.2 does have “libapparmor1”
and “libapparmor-devel”. Not sure if I added those libraries or they were installed by default. Good riddance!

No, the pattern is no longer selected by default. The kernel parts maybe
there always, but not the libraries and apps.
