Help! I’m afraid i have gotten in way over my head. After trying to network a WinXP box and my trusty 11.2 box (no luck so far…,) my thunderbird will receive mail but not send. I get the following error:
Technical details of permanent failure:
DNS Error: Misformatted domain name
The problem is that I don’t have a clue how to fix a misformatted domain name! I tried Yast>DNS Server, but I don’t know enough to use it. I don’t want to mess my system even worse than it is.
Thanks in advance for any direction anyone may give.

When do you get this error?
If upon sending the email, then in Tbird, check the ‘Outgoing Server
(SMTP)’ settings for your account, particularly the ‘Server Name’. It’s
under ‘Account Settings’.
If you can send the email ok, but get a response back with the error,
check the ‘To’ address.
Also, what exactly means ‘After trying to network …’? What changes
have you made to your system?
Thanks for your speedy and correct help! The problem was indeed the “address to:” field. The person I had emailed moved from England back to here in Texas and therefore her URL ends with “.com” now instead of “.co.uk”.
