can't see status of Batterie in 10.3 but in 11.0 I can see

Hallo!

I’m working with a great acer TravelMate 4500. -opensuse 10.3
My Problem is, that I can’t see the status of my batterie.
The quaint thing is, that I can see it in 11.0.

So my question is:

  1. What has changed ?
  2. Can update a package to see the status in 10.3 ?
