hi guys
i used the way that i go to init 3 and run the driver it gives me that “can’t find precompiled kernel”
by the way i am new on linux so i can’t compile the kernel or it’s headers so include steps.
thx for attention
Hello,
Do you mean that you followed NVIDIA/The hard way - openSUSE ?
Did you install the prequisits that are described?
I have an NVIDIA 9500GT and the article worked for me.
(Otherwise, I think in the near future the one-click-install offered will likely be “fixed” for easier configuration.)
cheers,
yea that’s the way i used but i don’t know how to have the prerequisites can u tell me how to get or do them?
Can I recommend trying the drivers from the nvidia repository so you do not need to compile them?
Try using the one-click install here and see how you get on. After this is installed reboot and all should be well.
Alternatively add the repository manually from this list and install the appropriate packages from there. If you are lucky YAST will pick them for you after you have added the repo and started the install software module.
I would also recommend using 11.2 if you are not already running this since it has far superiour handling of video cards and their drivers.
There are several ways of installing the drivers as you can see on the page with the one-click installer so one is bound to work for you!
