Hallo,
My problem is, I can’t run media-,rpm-,
etc. files from Internet.
Suddenly there is a problem with the tmp-cache
(/var/tmp/kdecache-user/krun).
System is Suse 11.2,UMTS-Stick (NM,ppp),KDE4,
Konqueror on my Asus Laptop (Intel pentium,
1 GB Ram).
Can anyone help me ?
Christoph.
Hi Christoph, welcome to the forums.
You’ve come to the right place. We will need some more info, to get this matter solved. What is happening exactly, when you are trying to do what? I don’t understand ‘running from the Internet’.
Rpm files cannot be ‘run’. They are packages, that can be installed. Either through the Software Installer, or through the command line in a terminal window.
Please also post output of:
df -h
su -c 'du -h --max-depth=1 /tmp'
(enter rootpassword after this one)
It looks like your /tmp is flooded (/var/tmp is a link to /tmp). Please post results, if it is what I suspect, it can easily be fixed.
Hi Knurpht,
I did the steps:
df-h:

udev 495M 260K 495M 1% /dev

Maybe in the /tmp dir is something to big.
By the way, of course I can,t install packages with the installer from internet, because
the cache doesn’t work (Yast works fine).
installer
Funny thing is, that the folder that the system complains about is not even there…
Let’s assume it’s the /tmp folder that’s causing the trouble. This is how to clean it out on boot:
Start Yast - System - Sysconfigeditor
Search for ‘tmp’. It will return some options that you can set. One of them is ‘CLEAR_TMP_DIRS_AT_BOOTUP’, set that to ‘yes’, reboot and see if the problem persists. Please get back with results.
Hi,
cleaning up /tmp dir worked fine, but I have
still problems to open .aspx files with my xine player.Message is : 'Can’t find demultiplexer plugin to open from /var/tmp/kdecache-christoph/krun/…aspx.
I updatet xine to version 1.1.81.The previous
problem regarding installation was the dependencies of the xine-packages.This is allright now but I still can’t open .aspx
files with xine. Any solution?
christoph.

Yep, follow those two. Read carefully, and follow oldcpu’s instructions.
