Hey guys, I’m trying to create a LiveUSB stick using an openSUSE 12.1 i586 DVD .iso, but something’s not working right. I’ve followed the instructions here (http://en.opensuse.org/Live_USB_stick) to the letter, but for some reason the .iso simply isn’t being converted to .raw so I can enter it into the Image Writer. The only error I’m getting in cmd is “Warning: more than 1024 cylinders (4224). Not all BIOSes will be able to boot this device.” This isn’t the first time I’ve tried to do this either, I tried about a year ago prior to formatting and it failed that time too. I’m running Windows 7 Professional x64, let me know if you need any more info.
What I did step-by-step:
- Downloaded the DVD .iso
- Extracted isohybrid.pl from syslinux and put it in the same directory as my .iso
- Installed strawberry perl
- Accessed cmd as admin, then cd to the directory with my .iso and the isohybrid.pl
- Ran > C:\strawberry\perl\bin\perl.exe isohybrid.pl openSUSE-12.1-DVD-i586.iso
- Tried to open the .raw in SUSE Studio Image Writer; that obviously did not work out because the .iso was still a .iso
