Can't open yast2 or any applications that require root password anymore?

I’m not sure what happened, but recently my system crashed a few times and I had to hard reset it each time. I think one of the times it was in the middle of an update with the PackageKit Updater but it froze and had to reset. Now I can no longer open Yast administer settings from the menu or any application that requires root login like Yast partition settings or apparmor. All I get is a small error window saying ‘Su returned error’. PackageKit applet also doesn’t show up anymore

In the terminal when I type in su, kdesu, xdg-su i get an authentication error. I could do sudo yast2 and still upgrade system. Maybe some files got corrupt, how can I fix it?

So, copy and paste the complete command and its output.

with su I just get “su: authentication failure”

su
su: Authentication failure

/usr/bin/xdg-su -c /sbin/yast2

doesn’t even output anything besides a pop up that says “Su returned with an error”, same with kdesu yast2
