Can't mount my iPod Touch

I know, I know, there a billion threads on the subject spread from Ubuntu forums to Yahoo Answers, but I like many I can’t seem to make my fruit talk to a penguin. The odd thing is though, It worked (almost) flawlessly until I started messing around. Trying to install ideviceinstaller (which I never did get working), I tried to compile the source for the development version of libimobiledevice. When I did this, I got compiler error after compiler error. In the end I reinstalled libimobiledevice stable (1.0.4). The problems began here. I’ve installed everything in the FunkyM repo (except for debuginfo stuff), plus some stuff that isn’t, yet I when I try to ifuse in terminal, I get the following error:

usbmuxd_get_device_list: error opening socket!
No device found, is it connected?
If it is make sure that your user has permissions to access the raw usb device.
If you're still having issues try unplugging the device and reconnecting it.

And subsequently I can’t use Gtkpod either.

Anyone got anything? I’m running 11.3, with a jailbroken 2nd gen iPod Touch running iOS 4.0.

Thanks.

you might write a nice note to Apple and ask when they will provide
the native Linux software for you to run on your machine which will
allow you to interact fully with your iPod…

or, just provide the APIs
<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Application_programming_interface> a
Linux programmer would need to write that software…

What made you decide to install these packages? What features does this add for your iPod?

The problems began here. I’ve installed everything in the FunkyM repo (except for debuginfo stuff), plus some stuff that isn’t, yet I when I try to ifuse in terminal, I get the following error:

Why FunkyM? Apparently you have some iPod packages installed from the standard repo and some from FunkyM, and this may be causing conflicts. The standard repo should provide most of the support you need for iPod touch. Try switching the installed packages to the OSS repo and removing anything remaining from FunkyM.

I used the stuff off FunkyM last time. I tell you what, 11.4’s about to come out, I’ll have a clean install and start again.

Thanks for your time.

Here you have all the APIs to interact with the native interfaces of any Apple iDevice.

11.4 has a bug in the released version within usbmux which prevents any device from connecting. There will be an update available soon in the official update repos. The FunkyM repo will most likely always contain the bleeding edge of libimobiledevice and related tools.
