Can't install

Hi everyone, first of all I would like to thank the openSUSE team for their great project.

I downloaded the openSUSE 11 KDE4 LiveCD, checked the md5, burned it at 4x (the minimum speed) on a CD-RW and tryed to install it on my old computer. The CD is booting, the set up menu appears and I select the installation of openSUSE. Linux kernel loads correctly and then a loading screen appears (this one: http://www.newbietux.net/wp-content/uploads/2008/09/loading-kde-1.jpg). And then… nothing. I get stuck on this screen, it looks like the computer freezes and it reboots after a few minutes. I already tryed to change the video mode (VESA, text mode) but it I get this error :
Waiting for CD/DVD device(s) to appears…
Waiting for USB devices to settle…
Failed to detect CD/DVD or USB drive!
rebootException: error consoles at Alt-F3/F4
rebootException: reboot in 120 sec…

I also tryed the safefail installation but it requires a login.

The computer is a little old but I think it has the minimum requirements:

Windows XP Pro (I don’t want it anymore)
384 Mo SDRAM
Intel Celeron 1Ghz
40 Gb
Nvidia Geforce 2 MX 100/200

Do you have a solution?

(Sorry if I made some mistakes, I’m not English)

Either try downloading the network install cd or the full dvd install and try that.
I never tried the kde4 live install but eh gnome live install worked for me.
Either way, you will end up downloading most of the extras so I would go with the network install disk. (worked flawlessly for 11.0)

The live cd requires about 512mb ram I think. You don’t even have that on your host!
You might get away with a dvd install and use xfce, but it will not perform well. I suggest a lightweight distro like Puppy or DSL

Thank you for your answers.
I think I will follow your advice and install another version of Linux. Which one do you advise me?
(note: I never used Linux before)

caf4926 said, and i agree “Puppy or DSL”

find Puppy Linux at: http://www.puppylinux.org/
find Damn Small Linux (DSL) at: http://damnsmalllinux.org/

both are a good place to learn Linux…when you get a stronger
machine, come back and enjoy the big brothers…
