I am using openSUSE leap gm.
virtualbox 5.06 from openSUSE installed and I can open virtual machines if I disable usb.
I tried to install the extension pack from oracle and nothing would open the file. Then installed apper and this did start the installation process, but it failed with this message : MIME type ‘application/gzip’ not supported /home/Alastairo/Downloads/Oracle_VM_VirtualBox_Extension_Pack-5.0.10-104061.vbox-extpack
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

How did you attempt to install the extension pack? It’s not installed
using package management, but from the VirtualBox GUI.

In the default virtualbox-qt GUI look for:
>File > Preferences > Extensions > (Icon “Adds new Package”)
You must download the** 5.0.6** file from the www.virtualbox.org site beforehand. (not the current 5.0.10)
Thank you - that solved it. I wasn’t aware of the changes in the method.
The link for the 5.06 extension pack is here

You’ve always had to install the extension pack (downloaded from Oracle)
from within the app - it’s never been installable using RPM-based tools,
because the extension pack isn’t an RPM.
But we’re glad you got it working, regardless.
