Can't install plasma5-radiotray, problem with dependency

I’m try to install plasma5-radiotray, but I get a problem with one of its dependencies; it requires vlc-beta-noX, that in turn requires libfreerdp.so.2()(64bit), that is not available.

plasma5-radiotray and vlc-beta-noX are both from packman repository, while libfreerdp is from the standard one, but apparently it is not the corretc version.

Well, nothing happened to the package over 8 months, is it still maintained? Should it work on the latest KDE Plasma? With the latest Qt?

I don’t know. The problem seems related to vlc beta, I don’t know how it is supposed to work

Need to get all packages from packman best to do a vendor switch to it.

It is unclear what you are suggesting. The packages that I have listed are present on the default repository OR on packman, NOT on both.

A thing you could try is to ignore the dep break, create symlink for the wanted libfreedrp to the installed one.

Well, I found an alternative, Gradio, it is built for Gnome but it integrates pretty well with Plasma Desktop, except for a couple of minor things. I’ll stick with it for now

There’s also ‘radiotray’. Listening to some smooth Jazz now …

I’ve tried it but it is a bit too minimal for my taste (I think I’m too much used to KDE I need options :wink: )

Gradio integrates with a searchable database of radio stations from all over the world (I’m italian and the defaults from radiotray are all from english countries, it saves me from having to manually insert the URL for my favourite radio streams), plus, it uses MPRIS, so it works with the “media player” plasmoid and if you use KDE connect, it will automatically mute when you get a phone call. Pretty neat if you ask me.

The only drawback is that the controls on the player plasmoid doesn’t seem to work like other programs (i.e. vlc), I have to play/pause/stop from inside the app. But it is not a great problem.
