Received delivery this morning of my new HP Pavilion HPE h8z computer. First thing I did was create the recovery disks, and afterwards partitioned the hard drive. It has only one Hitachi 1TB hard drive and a DVD burner. I tried installing 11.4 64-bit using the DVD, but right after selecting Installation it reboots and starts the whole process again. Next I went into setup mode and noticed that the hard drive was set to Raid, with IDE or AHCI being the other choices. I also have a Dell XPS 8100 computer and it has 11.4 running on it with no problem, and it also has one 1TB hard drive set for Raid. Does anyone have suggestions on how to install 11.4? Thanks much.

So this must be a pretty new computer release. I could not find much in the way of using Linux on it. My first thought is to switch to AHCI mode. I know of no reason to use RAID with a single hard drive. I have used all three (IDE, AHCi & RAID) but Raid was hardware based and had two drives. AHCI should be selected by anyone using SATA hard drives with the most recent computers. It is just what you should do.
Thank You,
