Can't install KDE in OpenSUSE 11.4: Problem: pattern:kde4-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64 requires patterns-openSU

Hi.
Yesterday I’ve installed openSuse 11.4. During installation, I choosed LXDE desktop. It’s very cool indeed: light, quick and intuitive. Anyway today I’ve decided to try KDE too, because I read that SUSE maintain it very well and it’s very professional (it not use half of CPU just to have “special effects”, like a recent one on another distro…). But there is an error:

linux-4i36:/home/manuel # zypper install -t pattern kde4 kde4_basis
Loading repository data...
Reading installed packages...
Resolving package dependencies...

Problem: pattern:kde4-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64 requires patterns-openSUSE-kde4, but this requirement cannot be provided
  uninstallable providers: patterns-openSUSE-kde4-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64[openSUSE-11.4-11.4-0]

                   patterns-openSUSE-kde4-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64[repo-oss]
 Solution 1: deinstallation of patterns-openSUSE-x11_yast-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64
Solution 2: do not install pattern:kde4-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64
Solution 3: do not install pattern:kde4-11.4-6.9.1.x86_64
Solution 4: break kde4 by ignoring some of its dependencies

Choose from above solutions by number or cancel [1/2/3/4/c] (c):

What should I do?

Thanks!
Manuel

I’m no expert in this. But I think you need the to go with Solution 1.

There are alternative ways for Yast to provide a GUI. You have the one for plain X11. After installing KDE, you would instead be using the KDE support for yast. Solution 1 is just deleting what you won’t need any more.

I did check what’s on my system (using KDE), and that “patterns-openSUSE-x11_yast” is not installed here

Thanks! It work
KDE is amazing.

Best,

Manuel

Another question… too little to open a new thread and still more or less about KDE installation.
When I’ve installed openSuse, I I’ve selected LXDE desktop.
Later, I’ve installed KDE using the command lines above.

So, why in KDE menu, in Applications, there is a folder called “Gnome settings” ? Just a curiosity.

Best,

Manuel
