hi the problem still persists it seems. I didn’t have any nets to try it out on, but I assumed it worked due to the fact that the wireless was enabled. but now if I hold the mouse over the knetworkglobe it says “wlan0 disconnected”, and I can’t connect to any networks.

Did you configure it? You do have to tell it some information.

I think the problem is that it looks like it (when you start it) looks for iwlwifi-4965-2.ucode but I only have a iwlwifi-4965-1.ucode.

On the Ubuntu forums, someone fixed their problem with a copy like this
sudo cp /lib/firmware/iwlwifi-4965-2-lbm.ucode
/lib/firmware/iwlwifi-4965-2.ucode
Does a variation of this work for you?

neither symlinking or copying works. but I have now concluded with it being a hardware error. the notebook is falling apart. now the keyboard’s stopped working. it’s ridiculous. I’m sending it back and getting a new one, from a company that doesn’t a) treat me like crap and b) have crappy computers.
