Can't delete anything

I’m running 11.4 and have been for some time. I really can’t say when it started but for some reason, I can no longer delete files without using a file manager. If I attempt to delete from the desktop or through any other program, I receive a dialog box saying my trash is full and to empty it, even though it IS empty.

Any ideas?

What desktop are you using?

Sounds like kde
I have come across this before
IIRC we had to start a new .kde4
:frowning:

But if it is kde
I’d try clearing all the dolphin setting files first.

This folder /.kde4/share/apps/dolphin/

and the file: .kde4/share/config/dolphinrc

Not sure you actually have to clear out anything. Maybe you could first try different settings in Dolphin itself:
Settings > Configure Dolphin > Trash.*
I think you could try to turn off the limit, or at least raise it.

ETA:

  • If that does not exist, that is because I am using a newer version of Dolphin. In any case, I mean the settings for the trash – whereever they are.

Yup. KDE I’ll give that a try if I can find it.

Got it! You were correct. The Dolphin setting “Limited” setting was checked. In unchecked it and it works.

Many thanks!

You can also empty ~/.local/share/Trash/files

I got tired of emptying the trash and automated it.
I made notes about it here:
