Hello,
Dual booting W7 and openSUSE-11.4 x86_64. Laptop is a Dell M5010. I am broadcasting a wireless signal from my android phone. Using both WiFi-tether and barnacle apps for android, the Windows 7 operating system has no problems at all connecting. When booted into openSUSE it will not connect. The network manager recognizes the network SSID. After selecting the network to connect, the rotary progress animation spins for about 30 seconds as if it is trying to connect but just stops after. I know the wireless is working in openSUSE because I am able to connect to a wifi with proxy (free internet at my apartments). I am trying to get this android connection to work because I cannot connect to any repositories using my other proxy connection.
I have tried a few things first. I have gone into the preferences and changed it to ad-hoc, the same channel as shown on my android phone (6), and changed the MTU to 1250 (read to do that somewhere on the net). Between the SSID and the signal strength it also shows a computer icon. This icon is not present in any other recognized networks.
I am not the greatest with using the terminal. Im sure your replies will include the terminal commands so please be patient with me as this is still a learning process.
Thank you for any and all help!
Jonathon
